From small start-up to global leader

For 7 years I led product design for Closing Folders. I joined as the company's first designer, working closely with the founding team to design, build, and market the product. The company was acquired by iManage in 2020, where we continued to grow the product into a leader in the legal transaction management category. Below is a sampling of projects I worked on during that time.

Taking the toil out of signatures

Collecting signatures is a foundational task in any transaction. Unfortunately, our existing signature detection feature fell short on two key criteria: Reading signatories on the page, and automatically placing signing tabs to minimize work downstream in DocuSign. For staff tasked with managing signature pages, these two small points of friction resulted in hours of drudgery each year.

We redesigned the feature using AI to automate both of these tasks. The result was that users spent little to no time manually adding signatories to the system, and the job of manually positioning tabs in DocuSign became a distant memory.

Reducing closing book regeneration by 90%

Closing Books are a crucial milestone in the Closing Folders workflow. It's where every deal ends; a point of relief and celebration for deal teams. I performed an end-to-end redesign of the closing book workflow, with a focus on introducing an editor and preview so users can fine tune the contents before generating the book itself.

Security for external stakeholders

While most internal users authenticated through SSO, firm requests for external-party MFA were frequent. In response, we introduced optional MFA for Closing Folders customers, extending security enhancements to external stakeholders.
